Dear Ovaries, We Need to Talk... Signed, Every Woman with PCOS

My Hormones Have Formed a Committee... and Apparently I'm Not Invited 🙃

There comes a point in life when your body starts making decisions without so much as sending a meeting invitation.

One day you're eating a salad because you're "trying to be healthy."

The next morning you wake up looking six months pregnant because you had the audacity to smell a dinner roll.

Excuse me?

Nobody warned us that hormones could act like toddlers after too much birthday cake.

One minute they're happy.

The next they're screaming, throwing chairs, making you cry because someone folded a towel wrong, and convincing your jeans they've suddenly become decorative pillows.

If you have PCOS, friend...

Pull up a chair.

You're safe here.

Because if you've ever stood in front of the mirror wondering...

"How did I gain five pounds between bedtime and breakfast?"

...you are definitely not the only one.

Around here, we don't judge.

We've all unbuttoned our pants before Thanksgiving dinner even started.

We've all blamed the dryer.

We've all considered writing strongly worded letters to our ovaries.

Mine would begin:

"Dear Hormones,

We're going to need to talk.

This isn't working."

The hardest part about PCOS isn't always the scale.

It's feeling like your own body has joined another team.

You eat healthy...

Nothing happens.

You skip dessert...

Nothing happens.

You drink enough water to float a bass boat...

Still bloated.

Meanwhile your friend loses twelve pounds because she "accidentally forgot lunch."

Bless her heart.

Some days it feels like your hormones are playing Uno while you're still trying to figure out where they hid the cards.

Then comes the internet.

"Oh, just eliminate sugar."

"Oh, just stop eating dairy."

"Oh, just avoid gluten."

"Oh, only eat between 10:17 and 10:23 while standing on one foot facing north."

Friend...

I barely remember why I walked into the pantry.

Let's not make breakfast require a spreadsheet.

That's exactly why I created PCOS Reset Recipes: Beat the Bloat, Balance Hormones, Lose Inflammation.

Not because food magically fixes everything.

But because feeding yourself shouldn't feel like taking the SAT.

Inside you'll find comforting, simple recipes built to help support your body without making you spend three hours hunting for ingredients nobody can pronounce.

Because healing doesn't have to taste like sadness.

It can still taste like supper.

Here's something I've learned after a lifetime in kitchens...

Sometimes the greatest comfort isn't finding the perfect recipe.

It's finally realizing you weren't failing.

Your body was simply asking for a little more understanding.

And friend...

Bodies can be stubborn.

Mine has negotiated with stretchy pants for years.

I swear elastic has personally carried me through holidays, birthdays, menopause conversations, family reunions, and at least three emotional support casseroles.

The kitchen has seen me laugh.

Cry.

Burn garlic bread.

Forget I was boiling eggs.

Lose my phone while talking on it.

Twice.

Life isn't perfect.

Neither are hormones.

But supper can still bring people together.

And maybe...

Just maybe...

Tonight's meal doesn't have to leave you feeling miserable afterward.

If you've been looking for a gentle place to begin, I hope PCOS Reset Recipes: Beat the Bloat, Balance Hormones, Lose Inflammation feels less like another diet...

...and more like sitting across the kitchen table from a friend who says,

"I get it."

Because around Rustic Roots Pantry...

We're not chasing perfection.

We're chasing feeling a little better tomorrow than we did today.

And if we happen to laugh until sweet tea comes out our nose along the way...

Well...

I'd call that healing too. ❤️
